 Drilled through 3" drain pipe...
Author: Bearding User

Please aid. I am installing a pedestal sink on the commencement floor of my 2 story townhome. I went to anchor it to the wall and drilled a hole (3/xvi"winking smileyinto a three" bleed piping coming from the second story. It seems like everything from the second story uses this pipe. Is there a way to patch this? The guy at Home Depot told me to become a repair sleeve which ways that I have to cut out a section of the pipage. I would have to thing that at that place is some compound or technique to patching such a small hole. Whatsoever ideas? I alreay have a one sq ft section cut out of the closet wall so I can see the pipe and pigsty (I didnt desire to cut into the bath wall because nosotros just wall papered). Thanks in advance.

well, looks like you lot will accept to rip out the kitchen and maybe the front porch. Really, I would think that a iii/sixteen hole could be filled with pvc glue. You could carve a footling plug out of some pvc. utilise primer.

Don't use pvc glue. It is a substance to solvent weld PVC.If the hole is only a 1/4" or then, put a small rubber patch over it and secure it with a hose clamp long enough to become around the whole piping.

In worse case scenarios with client not willing to take the piping correctly installed with a cleanout.....

Cut a fernco vertically on 1 side and wrap it around the opening centered. Then take your stainless steel bands and tighten up firmly.

All the same, the correct way would be to cutting pipe squarely at the hole and install a mission no-hub coupling if in that location is any play between pipage ends. This would be legal for higher up ground installations.

As near know the correct method would be to cut in a clamp or slip coupling. (assuming PVC) This would well-nigh likely involve more wall damage for a larger work space. There are several "Quick" methods of repair but only ii I would be satisfied with. You could drill the hole slightly large and tap the pipe with one/two" threads. And so purchase a ane/2" PVC plug. Prime and glue the tapped threads and plug and install permanently. (once more assuming PVC pipage) Some other method is to cutting a plastic saddle from a slice of 3" PVC pipage approx. viii" long. Cut the top 25% of the pipe off longways. Prime and gum the pipage and the saddle. When yous button the saddle on it may be tough but it will snap on. One time snapped on it will exist hard to motility, mucilage or no glue. I have done this before and works well on modest holes. GOOD LUCK

Buy a coupling either ABS or PVC depending on the pipe material. Cut information technology into two pieces simply in a higher place the internal ring. Take the piece that does non have the band in it, the shorter piece, and cut a piece out of that is less than 1/ii the diameter. Employ the proper gum, and primer if it is PVC, to the pipe at the hole and the inside of the "C" shaped ring you take created. Snap the coupling over the pipe centered on the hole.

Well we all know the 100% proper methods. But a small pigsty ( less than ane/iv"winking smiley in a bleed pipe,if information technology were in my living room I would get some 2-office epoxy PUTTY availavle anywhere, and make about a 50C slice sized patch and glob it over that hole.

That was not what was said. What was said was that he needs a coupling of the aforementioned textile as the pipe and if it is PVC he needs primer and glue.

Some Case & A/Due south toilets have replaceable plastic seats within their fill valves. They strip out most immediately when using a seat wrench to remove them. hj one time mentioned that the hot screwdriver technique tin be used to cook/slice through the seat to easily take it out.
